DATALAKE:GROUNDTRUTH [SERIE NX]

DATALAKE:GROUNDTRUTH embodies a collection of AI generated scenarios. A blend of unceasingly morphing convoluted sounds and moving images evoke the struggle of nature and technology, in order to coexist in a new organic dialetheic system. Cars, architectural structures and natural disasters entwine into a living, fluid organism made of objects, shapes and forms we recognize as spontaneous formations or mechanical devices. These images fluctuate in the spectrum between excerpts from a fake documentary and hypercharged TV news, flooding the viewer with visual stimuli from a realm of uncertainty and danger. Reality becomes an incessant flow of visual universes and shifting timelines, alternative perspectives represented as gigantic tv screens. Portals, which eventually collapse in the viewer’s order of reality, breaking the fourth wall by actively splitting the medium used in that precise moment. Everything disassembles and reassembles, in an all-encompassing observation of a space dilated in time, by time. Every moment is the most accurate representation of what is (or isn’t) real, possible and impossible.

DATALAKE: GROUNDTRUTH is a triptych by Franz Rosati that plunges the viewer into a series of ever-changing landscapes, marked by catastrophic events such as floods, landslides, fires, explosions, and the continuous destruction and construction of buildings and artificial structures. The visuals are intensified by a haunting auditory experience with resonant, deep sounds. The AI-generated animations and soundtrack deliver a stark commentary on our fascination with the spectacle of disasters in a time rife with warnings of global threats and potential human extinction. The term ‘ground truth’ used by the artist underscores the notion that what we observe are merely constructs of possible realities—each as tangible or imaginary as anything witnessed on our screens. In this era of algorithmic hyperrealism, ‘ground truth’ becomes as elusive and mutable as the endlessly evolving scenarios Rosati extracts from the latent space.” NIIO Curatorial
